The Next Question: Can Brands Show How Value Is Created?

Some focus-group participants raised sustainability and transparency as emerging expectations; others prioritised quality, heritage, design or status.

Sustainability surfaced in the focus groups as one participant perspective among several. For some, responsible production and openness about where a product comes from formed part of what makes luxury meaningful.

Participants did not agree on its priority, nor on how directly it shapes what they buy. This is an emerging qualitative insight; the survey did not measure it, and the research does not show that sustainability drives luxury purchases.

It does raise a question worth watching. If consumers increasingly ask how a product was made and by whom, transparency may become another way for brands to make their value visible.
